Title drops in movies

Page & Visualization Design

Idea, Data Analysis & Code by Dominikus Baur

Visualising title drops in movies

A title drop is a moment in a movie when one of the characters says the title of the movie. This project shows a large-scale analysis of film dialogue based on a dataset from OpenSubtitles.org and IMDb through a series of visualisations.

Dominikus Baur is the mastermind behind this project, and worked on the data analysis, story and development. I supported him with the design the page layout and a series of explanatory visualizations that show the main findings of his analysis. I also designed the key visual - a fish-eye filmstrip that allows to explore the underlying data in a playful way.
